International Rhino Foundation
Dedicated to the survival of the world’s rhino species through conservation and research — with a zero known poaching rate in Sumatra’s Leuser Ecosystem since 1992.

Sip wine. Save rhinos. This is where the second half happens.
In 2016 our founders stood in South Africa in the aftermath of a rhino poaching. The answer to what two people in the Texas Hill Country could do about it turned out to be a vineyard, a rhino named Blake, and a community that keeps showing up for rhino conservation. At the end of 2025 that work became the Rhinory Foundation — a 501(c)(3) whose only job is to move money to the frontlines quickly and cleanly.
The need has not shrunk. Every year the sanctuaries take in more orphans, the patrols cover more ground, and the bills arrive again in January. What we raise this year funds this year.
We don’t do this work. We fund the people who do.
IRF is the partner that lets a Texas winery reach the rarest rhinos on the planet. Sumatran rhinos number in the dozens. The people keeping them alive — Wildlife Protection Teams walking the forests of Aceh, Rhino Protection Units guarding the breeding sanctuary — are funded by gifts exactly like the ones that come from this room.
A Rhinory Foundation conservation partner
The rarest rhinos on earth, and the people between them and extinction.
The International Rhino Foundation works across Africa and Asia on all five rhino species. Its focus in Sumatra is where the Rhinory Foundation’s support is concentrated, because that is where the margin for error is smallest.
Sumatran rhinos are among the most critically endangered mammals on Earth. IRF’s Wildlife Protection Teams have held a zero known poaching rate in the Leuser Ecosystem since 1992 — and are now documenting signs of successful natural breeding in the wild, something that was not a given a decade ago.
At the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary, Rhino Protection Units guard a small breeding population that represents the species’ best chance. Additional browse for those animals, the salaries of the people guarding them, the drones and GPS units that let patrols cover more ground — every one of these is a line item the Foundation can fund directly.
Exactly what your gift does.
We never ask you to help save the rhino in the abstract. Gifts to IRF go directly to the work on the ground:
- Field programs and capacity-building across Africa and Asia, for all five rhino species
- Additional browse for the Sumatran rhinos in the breeding sanctuary
- K9 units patrolling the forests of Aceh for rhinos and orangutans
- Aerial drones and monitoring technology for rhino patrols
- Smartphones and GPS units for the Wildlife Protection Teams
- Salaries for the Rhino Protection Units securing the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary
Where 2025 went: Anti-poaching patrols, habitat restoration, and Sumatran rhino protection — safeguarding one of the most critically endangered rhinos alive.
