Ninety thousand acres of protected Kenyan wilderness, the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and home to the last two northern white rhinos on Earth.

In 2016 our founders stood in South Africa in the aftermath of a rhino poaching. The answer to what two people in the Texas Hill Country could do about it turned out to be a vineyard, a rhino named Blake, and a community that keeps showing up for rhino conservation. At the end of 2025 that work became the Rhinory Foundation — a 501(c)(3) whose only job is to move money to the frontlines quickly and cleanly.
The need has not shrunk. Every year the sanctuaries take in more orphans, the patrols cover more ground, and the bills arrive again in January. What we raise this year funds this year.
We don’t do this work. We fund the people who do.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is where this relationship becomes personal. At last October’s gala, this community named a black rhino calf: Liora. Rhinory Foundation funds her feed and veterinary care. This July our Catalyst for Conservation honoree, Mital Patel, returned to Laikipia with one assignment — to find her and photograph her. A name given from a dinner table in Texas, an animal thriving in the wild, and a photograph to prove it. That closed loop is the whole point.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy sits on the Laikipia plateau in central Kenya, in the shadow of Mount Kenya. It is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and its rangers and K9 anti-poaching units are the reason that title still holds.
It is also the last home of the northern white rhino. Najin and Fatu, a mother and daughter, are the entire remaining population of their subspecies. They live under armed guard, around the clock, on Ol Pejeta Conservancy — alongside the pioneering science working to bring the subspecies back from the edge.
The Conservancy’s work is not abstract. Every ranger salary, every dog and handler, every fence line and vehicle is the difference between a rhino that is tracked and one that is lost. The Rhinory Foundation funds that work directly.
In 2026 the Conservancy lost Baraka, the blind black rhino who for years introduced thousands of visitors — including many from this community — to what is at stake. A portrait of him, donated by the artist in tribute, is part of this year’s gala auction.
